The tax-happy voters of Germantown elect Brown, Snyder & Jennings; Craig returned to office.

Germantown voters returned all the incumbents to office, apparently not upset with high taxes and sky-rocketing costs. The parks may be in disrepair, the lake made need draining, new debt looms in the form of a sidewalk, but the voters disregarded these facts.

Our congratulations to the victors.

What happened? Roy Brown himself put his finger on the answer when he said in the Register-Star, “Getting out the vote must be better than spending money on a campaign…”

Indeed, an aggressive effort to get Republican voters to the polls by telephone and in-person appeals was reported. The Republican base in Germantown is embedded in citizens who are not politically active, but who can be produced on the command of the Republican leadership.

We invite comment by all viewers, while we ponder the matter further.
